Problems, problems and more problems ...

Just spent nearly two weeks in the Malware Forum "straightening things out". I was told to uninstall most of my Anti-Spyware programs (all, I think - except Javacool Software's "SpywareBlaster", and Windows Defender). In any event, when I now run IObit's "Advanced Windows Care 2", I get "54" Registry "Problems Found" (??). Now, we did make changes to the registry - I believe, but should there be that many "problems"?

On another subject, my Vista "Performance & Reliability Monitor" is telling me that; "The Security Center has not recorded an antivirus product". It goes on; "If an antivirus product is installed and functioning configure Security Center to stop monitoring antivirus status" - ??? Do I REALLY want to do that? What if there really was a problem - I wouldn't have that second line of defense, it being Windows/Vista, notifying me of a problem - correct? Or is that the situation now - as it stands? And how can I be absolutely certain that my Antivirus Program is doing what it's supposed to be doing - fully?

I am running (recently changed to) Avira Antivir Personal (free). Part of me thinks; 'well, if Vista is not picking it up, then it would be difficult for a hack to get at it not knowing what I had'? Am I mislead here (one way or the other) ... or rather - how mislead am I?

    Thanks
PS - I'd like to what until I get at least a couple or three replies before I reply back - just to see if there is a consensus - before I make any more dumb moves!
