Not sure where you are at so lets back up a bit first as you left out some information that has me a bit confused.

How are you connecting to the router to make the changes? You must be connected by ethernet cable to the router to make changes. Are you then logging into the router via IP and password provided by the router?

Assuming you are, check for a firmware upgrade and if there is none, reset the router to factory settings and then try changing the settings.

I had this problem sometime back using a Netgear usb WIFI adapter.
The problem was the Netgear software which was too old to configure for WPA and would only except settings for WEP.
The way I got around it was to let windows control the wireless adapter instead.

I uninstalled the netgear software which also removed the driver.
I then plugged the Adapter back in after a reboot and then used the Device manager to install ONLY the driver by pointing Windows to the driver folder on the Adapter installation disk.

Windows then had control and allowed me to connect to the router using WPA2.

    HI

Try this and click the wifi icon in the system tray and bring up the properties of your current network connection then click View Wireless Networks, then under related tasks click "change Advanced settings" then click in the properties box the Wireless Networks tab, which should then list all the wifi networks you may have connected too then under Preferred Networks highlight and then remove all networks,

Then try and connect to your wifi again and add the new WPA-PSK password.

What Windows version do you have as the above is from memory dealing with XP, Windows Vista and 7 maybe a little different but same process of opening the network sharing centre up and removing the stored networks.
