Help! I have lost the CD for my Western Digital external hard drive. The model number is WD1200B015 and it is a Dual-Option USB drive. I've gone to their site but I don't know what I need to get. All I want is the CD installation files. I have no problems using the drive itself but without the files from the CD installed I can't use a lot of the options it has.

Yes, I've tried going there but I don't see an installation file... I don't know if it's named something else or something but I can't seem to find it.

Does any have a copy of the installation file or something? It shouldn't be illegal to share that because it's useless without the hard drive itself...

The program is called Data Lifegaurd Diagnostics. The link Jerkyking gave you has it for Floppy or CD. There are 2 CD options. ISO or ZIP. The ISO, you can use Nero or any other CD burning program to write it straight to a CD. The Zip is just a compressed file. WinXP can extract it by double-clicking on it. It is probably just the ISO file. You will then need to burn it to a CD...

And if you can't get the Data Lifeguard Diagnostics CD together, you probably don't have to have it anyway. There are likely other tools you can use to partition and format the drive that will work just fine -- and generally, that's all the HD installation routine does anyway. It just makes it easy for you by providing a wizard that takes you by the hand and leads you through the steps.

That said -- bear in mind that I have not seen the current version of WD's HD installer. I last installed a WD hard drive about three years ago.

The Diagnostic thing doesn't have any ISO files.... and it didn't really do anything. I need to install things, not check on the hard drive.
