Western Digital overlay--can it be removed?

My Seagate drive has a Western Digital overlay on it. I was installing a secondary WD drive in addition to the Seagate, and the "impossible" happened....their software theoretically will not affect a non-Western Digital HD. Should have pulled the plug, I know. But now it's too late.

The Seagate has a lot of valuable data that I need to recover. The disk will not boot, even though it has the full Win98, and it takes over as the master drive even if it is the second HD and set to slave. Spooky. It is not accessible even when booting from a DOS disk. Just get error messages.

    Please help!

Try rerunning the WD tools, there should be an option to remove. Or it might of been Seatools that has it .. been a while since I've done that. Try fdisk and delete all parts and fdisk /mbr too.

Have you made any progress? Also wondering if you have a Win98 boot diskette?
