weuiy,scr

Hi I,m asking if anyone has received anything like this:

I get a message box pop up after booting up the message reads:

the file or folder 'weuiy,scr' that this shortcut refers to cannot be found.

on top of the message box it has problem with shortcut it has a red cross on right to close box which when you close it it reopens again it can take 5/6 times of closing box.

it also has an "ok" button & on the left of the box it has a yellow triangle with a black ! mark

if you have experienced this and can help with it I would be grateful

Unfortunately, this reads like you have some kind of infection

Best to read and follow carefully the READ & RUN ME FIRST in the Malware area of the forum, if you still have problems after completing the instructions for your version of Windows, create a new topic there and attach the logs.

ya sounds like an infection.

.scr indicates it could be a screensaver file. It also is used to transmit virus's (See Below)

"The SCR file type is primarily associated with 'Script'. In November 2007 the SCR file extension started to be used to transmit a Trojan. As a script or a screen saver this file can execute other files which carry the Trojan. The SCR file may be embedded within a ZIP file which could also contain a file with a double extension."

 

use the search function to find weuiy,scr
then kill it off,
try opening it with notepad
if it read on the top "this program cannot be opened in dos" or something like that its an EXE (May be virus)
or if not try winrar, you could try notepad if it has words like if else end its a script
and yes its probably a Screensaver gone wrong
