What are some more good space strategy games like Galactic Civilizations

So my system I found out can not handle Civ IV as I have 32 mb video card but need a min. 64mb video card.

I was going to get the new Galactic Civilization game Dread Lords but I cannot as it is the same issue...needs a min. 64mb video card.

I am going to be getting a new system in a year so I am not that interested in upgrading the card and I can wait to plat the games.

I was looking for a game in the lines of Galactic Civilizations or MOO2(But not MOO3...did not like it). Hence I am looking for decent 4X space strategy games.

Any ideas of what I should get.

 

Well, since it sounds like you got a pretty crappy system, I would suggest Starcraft, such an amazing galactic pc game. Why must I say this? It's cheap, includes Aliens, Aliens, Humans, Aliens and Aliens. And it doesn't take much memory and space.

 

yeah, I have starcraft and also like it.

I have been out of gaming for a bit(since MOO2) and I just recently picked up galactic civilizations which was great and then civ IV(which I cannot use) and I was going to pic up the new galactic civilizations(but cannot due to the video card issue).

Anyway, looking for some ideas on some more recent 4X space strategy games...2000 - 2003 era or so.

 

homeworld and ground control are good games and should work with ur setup.

 

You could buy Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force from amazon.com and it only needs a video card with 16 megs of ram.
