What are the hottest PC games?

I was wondering what the best first person shooter games are nowadays for my PC. I am running XP at 2 ghz with 6800XT video and 1 gig ram. I have Halo, HL2, and Fear and need something new. Thanks

 

Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 are awesome games. You've pretty much got all the good FPSs...you can grab HL2: Episode One but aside from that there arent any really

 

I LOVE the Battlefield series! Definitely check out 2142.

 

America's Army is pretty good, it's free, the new Rainbow Six Vegas is also really good. Quake 4 is good.

I checked out the reviews at Newegg for Battlefield 2 & 2142 and there were a lot of positive reviews but quite a few negatives. The biggest complaints seemed to be about unwanted spyware installed on your computer and you have to be online for even single player mode. Does anyone who has this game have any comments?

 

Company of Heroes is an excellent RTS game.

 

Quake 4 and Prey are pretty good FPS. Fear also has an expansion, I have it but can't play till XMAS (a gift I am Getting)

 

....and a good game of Counter Strike: Source always goes down well

 

Garry's Mod (for HL2) doesn't exactly count as a game, but it's hilarious to play with friends when you can throw trains or shoot manhacks at people, among other things.

 

The entire spyware thing is taken way out of proportion. It does not collect any personal information, cookies, browsing habits, files names, any of that stuff. The only reason it is there is to determine where you live by IP address so it can direct the games advertising correctly. Japanese ads if you live in Japan, English ads if you live in the U.S. etc. Whether or not your want ads while you're gaming, however, is a different matter.

 

I have BF2 and all the expansions Armored Fury, Euro Force, Special Forces. BF2 and Special Forces ran well. But after I installed the Booster pack with the other two expansions on it I cannot play the expansion maps either in singleplay or online. I have been not getting much help from EA to resolve either. I am considering removing and reinstalling but haven't gotten to it yet. The game itself is pretty awesome, I also have all the other BF games which I love.

FEAR has a sweet downloadable free on line..Besides that, Need for speed Carbon rocks!!, also Starwars Battlefront 2 is good.
For me battle field 2 sucked, played it once...GET F.E.A.R.
buy it , You wont regret it..Xpansion is great...GAME IS OMFGLMAO2Fing good, gently put....

Tom Clancy's "Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter" GRAW for short, is often overlooked. I bought it as a gift for a nephew, but when I mentioned it to his dad( my bro), his dad said "No way. The kid's off to college in a couple of months." So I tried it, instead. I love it. The story-line is all current events. There's enough strategy to keep me interested as I really detest "shooters" where the story line is "kill 'em all". You'll spend a lot of time, finding "the best way" to accomplish your missions without losing your team. You'll start to feel as if they're actually alive and that their deaths are unnacceptable. It's worth a look.

Jazagod reminded me of the free. F.E.A.R multiplayer download. Which is fantastic IMHO. And if you like that. Look up wolfenstein enemy territory, which is also a free multiplayer download. I love both of these games and the best part is that they are free!
