    Hi

They are .Net files and mainly install and performace logs. Info on .Net .Net is used alot in many of the freebie apps these days.

    Hi RJ

.Net at times does suffer from leaving the installer log files behind in install, .Net 3.5 is latest version. There is a beta .Net 4 lurking around but not worth installing that yet until final.

Depending on exactly the location these are located you could be able to delete them, if in the event a .Net based app doesnt work its a simple job of re-installing .Net 3.5 and the SP1 for it again.

Right-click anything you want more info and select properties. A lot of times when you click the version tab, it show what company it comes from as well.

Yes. Updates are a good thing. Try downloading Dial-A-Fix and run the Windows Update repair (for WinXP only- Dial-A-Fix does NOT work with Vista). You should also simply skip SP2 and go right to SP3 if you have WinXP. You can download WinXP SP3 from here. If it's SP2 for Vista you need, the 32bit (x86) version is available here, and the 64bit version is available here, or you can download a single large ISO file to burn to DVD from here. This ISO download is for both 32bit and 64bit versions of Vista and Server2008.
