What are these updates demanded?

Just a quickie I hope.

The pc has just completed a rehab program under chaslang's guidance, and I've updated my Windows XP with the Service Pack 2 - but each time I load the pc two windows pop up asking for access to the network to upgrade bits - the logo is not one I recognise so each time I've denied this and the Sygate Personal Firewall I run has brought up detection of application hijacking. (2 red opposite directional arrows with the flash in the middle).


From the security log: 'Application has changed since the last time you opened it, process id: 968
Filename: C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe
The change was denied by user

There's things I'd like to download (music tracks & Media Player 10) but am worried I'll allow the gremlins in again.

What should I do to stop these two windows and free the pc so I can download stuff again??

 

If you got the clean bill of health, then svchost.exe is a legitamate program. Yes, it will access the internet. Just let it.
