What are you getting you mom for mothers day?

I saved up some money for mowing and thought Id get my mother a bench that would sit next to the house where she could sit in on nice days or by the garden. Also I seen some nice stone benches/seats that are deco/seats for gardens But the price of them went up from when I checked them out on the sites. I signed up an account on walmart order something and shipping was 35 dollars for 50 dollar item?! I undid the thing because thats crazy.

 

Well Silas, at least your heart is in the right place...to bad your wallet isn't!! $35.00 is a lot for a $50.00 item, but then again, it is made from stone and the weight is probably pretty hefty. Therefore, UPS or FedEx wouldn't be able to handle it so it would have to come via a freight company and they are NOT cheap. Couldn't you, maybe, go to WalMart and pick one up? It'll be a lot cheaper!! Or maybe even a yard & garden store in your area? Whatever you decide, good luck and whatever you do get your Mother, I know she'll appreciate it!

 

I'll send some flowers to the grave site - that's about it. Been 46 years for me, (I was 5). Wife and daughter's Birthday in May is going to be none too chipper either. Not much to celebrate these days.

 

Make one or find a second hand anything that resembles a bench, paint it put a cushion and ta-da a garden seat. Even more special the the ones from dept stores.

 

I'll light a simple candle at home. Hi mom.:wave gf lost hers a few days later, not a good week for us. She'll light a candle at the church for me.

 

Had ours in March. I got my mam three buddleia, also known as a butterfly bush. It attracts butterflies and other winged insects with it's tiny, brightly coloured flowers. She likes garden wildlife, so thought this is a step in the right direction.
I bought hardened off young plants as the frosts in this part of the world can carry on well into spring. I planted them in the middle of the garden, twenty feet or so apart, added fertilizer to minimize shock, and the first signs of new growth are showing. Won't flower this year, but with TLC and luck, they'll grow 12-18 inches this year and flower next year.
Inexpensive, enjoyable, non labour intensive and will probably see even me out.
Beats a box of chocolates.

Father went in '68, mother in '86.

 

Probably a potted plant, as usual, or something she can plant in her garden. She likes things like that as opposed to cut flowers which don't last, she says.

@Phantom - it's always too soon to lose a parent, but at five? I can't imagine.

 

Let me just say to those of you who's mom is still here, don't pass up the opportunity to make her feel good and appreciated. When they're, they'e gone. And life will never be quite the same again. :wave

Hm Ive been looking around and also searching few sights. Walmart is cheapest on these Items I was wanting(benches).
