Whats up, I recently bough the following:

    - MSI K9N6PGM V2
    - Athlon 2 X2 CPU
    - 2GB Kingston Memory
    - DIAMOND ATI Radeon™ HD 4650 PCIE 1GB GDDR2 Video Card
    - Coolmax 600W

Ive put everything together, brand new parts, yet I receive the error message:

" Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause "

Ive used my previous hard drive with windows 7 already installed, yet it doesnt wanna boot up, I connected the same hard drive to my pentium 4 HT computer and it boots up just fine. What can the problem be? Thanks

I would highly suggest a fresh install. Major hardware changes like that usually make windows have a fit.

When I changed my motherboard I had to reinstall windows 7

Windows 7 is a DVD so if you do not have a DVD drive in the computer, it will not boot from a CD drive.

    Hey there,

If I recall at least with Windows XP it used to want to reregister itself with Microsoft after 5 or so major hardware changes, I think throwing your old HDD from your P4, in essence into a strange environment as far as the O.S is concerned, maybe causing an issue, have you tried boot in safe mode on new unit?

I am not sure, the other geeks will / may have a superior solution, backup your drivers on the P4 unit to another partion drive removable media etc and delete your drivers then try booting in safe mode on the new p.c... If that is o.k try letting it start in normal mode and seeing if finds the drivers on first start.

Alternatively you may try reinstalling Windows 7 on the new unit. Backing up original data first of course.

Depending on the version of Windows 7 it may not have the driver support? ... for supporting all your new hardware this could also be the issue.. if not a little surprising.

    Good luck guy
