What Causes "script Errors" And How Do I Correct Them?

Online I often get the message, "Script Error" with a choice whether to continue running scripts on this page, or not.
    What's going on?

It's normally Adobe Flash - we all get it.

But I don't have Adobe Flash; or is that the problem.

Unless we see a focussed screenshot of the error we can't know for sure. Every website has script. So it could be JavaScript (which is NOT 'Java').

If you are using Internet Explorer then open Internet Options > Advanced tab and remove any check mark in 'Display a notification about every script error'. They are errors on the web page itself or in an add-on you are using. There's nothing you can do about them.

Thanks for your advice - I followed your directions and found that 'Display a notification about every script error' was already unchecked. Any other suggestions?

Is Internet Explorer the web browser you normally use, or a different one?

I use Firefox and never see all these script errors you see in IE all the time. I'm no expert in web page coding but believe that many web page authors code their web pages primarily for the most popular browsers and give less attention to ensuring their coding is consistent with IE. If I'm wrong about this they can correct me, but from your point of view trying a different browser may help.

I use Internet Explorer mostly and occasionally Firefox. Haven't even thot about whether the messages show up in FF. Will check it out.

I've had script errors in FF which have caused it to hang. Updating Flash Player hasn't corrected them so, I just stop the script.

Java is nothing to do with Javascript - that's been pointed out so many times.
Script errors occur on Cyberfox just like any other browser.

But wiley you keep mentioning Java and others keep pointing out it's nothing to do with Javascript or script errors. Keep throwing out inaccuracies doesn't help anyone.

That's nothing to do with Java.
Script errors do occur with Adobe Flash and NON-Flash Javascript. And they happen in every single web browser without exception.
