What causes this?

Hello,This computer (Dell w/windowsXP) will go to a blank page when I try to close a window or tab at the bottom of the screen.Like if I have a couple of windows open and try to close just one of them,it will close everything and go to a blank page.Even if just one window is open and you close it,it does the same thing,Blank page.This is driving me nuts,how can I get it to stop doing this?

 

Is this Internet related? If so - have you tried a different internet browser? Any additional information pertaining to your problem is a big help in determining the cause and a fix.

Yes it is internet related I suppose,that's the only time I think that it does it.Not really sure how to try another browser though.I think this is the internet explorer browser.This is also on dial up,don't know if that makes a difference.
