What causes?................

all icons on desktop to suddenly disappear? Also at that time I couldn't right click and get any window(display properties etc). All icons in sys/task tray and start button was visable and functions properly. I rebooted and all is well. Just wondered. My wall paper was still intact, also. My OS is XP Home. Thanks.

well, i would wig my xp laptop out alot, i figured i had too much going on, and the icons would change. once i rebooted it was fine, so i just assumed it was an xp thing. i'm sure more ram would help it? - sos

 

Thanks to both of you. everything seems ok now. Just happened the one time. BTW, I have 512 mg ram so should be unuff, I'd hope. Thanks again.

lol, i would think that would be a decent amount, but it also depends on what all you have running in the background, etc. some people don't think that all that stuff by the clock uses resources. anyway, when i said mine would wig it, it really did. my icons would totally change (ie. word or excel icons would look like aim/msn, netscape, or whatever). or when i really wigged it out, the stuff on the task bar would disappear and then come back in a different order than what was there before (started). - sos
