    .. see attachment.

AOL has these 3 (one set for their skin over Internet Explorer) and the second smaller set when I am on a website like MG, for example.

Internet Explorer v6 has only one set and it is a real P.I.T.A.

Can anyone recommend a Browser that has the same capabilities as AOL v7? Bazza

PS: now I know why folks hate IE. :D Baz

    Minimize, maximize, and close?
What capibilities are you talking about exactly, Bazza?
Wouldn't a tabbed browser do about the same thing for you. At least if your talking about closing windows to open new ones.

I know that. :D I thought they might have had another name that programmers use, for example the Places bar, where you have the option to save to certain Folders..

I have always used AOL, occasionally IE.
Now with Broadband ( when I get it going) ;) I am currently using IE again.

Have never tried a tabbed browser, although I have seen them recommended here many times. Never had the need until now.;)

What are the current recommended Browsers, in MG members opinions?
    Gotta dump IE. Bazza

I use K-Meleon, which is a tabbed browser. (called layers in this one) I like it but it has a couple of quirks I found easy to get used to.(Could be caused by my PC, because it acts different on my wife's) Pages open faster in it than IE. (Lev uses it, also)
IE7 is also tabbed, but some have had troubles with it. (I never have, but don't use it often enough, maybe)
I know other regulars use Opera (Halo, I think) And FireFox.

I started using Firefox a few months back. Love it.
with all of the software you seem to like checking out to do with computers you will love all of the add ons you can get for Firefox. And the ease of using them. If you haven't used tabbed browsing before then you have to give it a go!

If you love Firefox you will think you've died and gone to Browsing Heaven with "Opera". Not only do they have tabbed Browsing, they also have speed Browsing. However the feature I like the best is the Pop-Up when you click on a link or photo, hated it to begin with, but it is a great safety feature. I think you would really like it Bazza, I know I do link http://www.majorgeeks.com/Opera_d559.html

I use the Firefox external app., no loaded program on the hard drive, it is on the flash drive. I really like the built in spell checker. Also use K-Meleon, Opera, and The World 2.0, oh yeah, and Internet Explorer 6.00.2900.2180 on occasion. I spelled the word occasion wrong and Firefox showed a red line underneath the word, did a right click on the word and chose the correct spelling. A few others like Opera have an add on for something like that, comes as part of the program with Firefox, and it checks spelling as I type. AOL had a good Media Player at one time, called Winamp, they let it go. The browser is alright, but really just Internet Explorer with wallpaper. And the programs, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0, well lets just say they are alright if you have a dial-up connection and AOL is your ISP. Sorry, just the mention of AOL pushes my buttons. Surfs Up, see you in the pipe...

Jeez, there's more Firefox users than I thought around here.;) I, too, am a Firefox user, and have been for a couple of years now, with minimal complaints. The only thing at the moment, is that they just recently updated to Version 2, and it's still a little buggy, just enough to where it sometimes makes you wanna say something out loud that you may regret later.:***:guns Overall, though, I personally like it better than any other browser, especially IE. I only use IE if I absolutely have to, and thankfully that's rarely. I have also used a few others, of which Opera was my favorite, and have yet myself to try ones like K-Meleon.
Oh, and BUGBALLOU, I'm with you on the AOL thing. Me, as well as more than a few people I know, have used it and thought, "What a horrible steaming pile of elephant dung this is!:crap:crap:flip"

    Minimize/Maximize/Close ( collectively no group name )

Kinda easy to find their names if you hover the mouse over them! If AOL add those extra Min/Max/Close boxes its not an IE issue as IE doesnt add more, its AOL.

    Hey, I said that!
Is that an example of copy and paste, but change a few things that you schooled me about, Halo? :p

Thanks Halo. I was trying to find out if it had a "collective" name.

As for AOL and IE. I really miss that double feature in AOL.
It certainly simplifies and speeds up surfing MG, and the 'Net. Bazza

Thanks matt99. "Control box" sounds good.
Better than "Maximise, minimise and close" or vice versa. :D
Still seaching for a Browser that suits me better than the AOL skin over IE6 :D
Major problem, for me, at the moment is to get properly connected to ADSL2+, so browser search is second in the queue at the moment.
