What do you do for kicks?

Pardon me folks, but I have to live vicariously threw others these days. Being as I can't get out much anymore & spend most my time right here in front of the puter. Anyway.....

Just wondering what, if anything other than gaming, overclocking, or keepin' up with the bills, do you use your computer for.

I do alot of graphics, painting Nascar skins or playin' or buildin' maps for BF1942. Mostly Desert Combat on both.

I used to be an outdoorsy kinda guy. Loved ridin' motorcycles, huntin', no fishing though, I'd rather watch paint dry. Again anyway.....................I do this.

I play with photoshop, Bryce and 3D Studio Max a lot... making application skins for winamp and lately firefox. I've got a deviantArt page full of wallpapers and some other designs That's pretty kewl with the pic, I've just been commisioned to do something similar on an Acura Integra. Gonna go take some photo's of the car tomorrow and start working up some idea's

 

Sweet, I wish I could find something like that myself. Fraid they'd be comin' to me though & being as I live in ____hole, Florida, about the only thing available 'round these parts, would be a stray cow now & then.

 

Wana know what I do all day on the computer? I press the refresh button on the bar on firefox so I can see the new posts that come in here. Yeah, pretty lame huh? I know, I'm a very boring person.

I like to draw, read, go on the computer, and watch tv.

 

I sit on a chair.....in front of the computer, not on it..........and I have the cable pluged into the computer to watch tv some too.........wobbles


outside ride my bike, and walk a little..............and the rest of the time, is left for my art..............

 

Art? Oooh now you're speaking my language. What kind of art do you do? Do you draw?

 

all i do all day is read what i haven't here. and burn cds and work on car stereos. i'm a big sound guy. by the way anybody know a good sound board software that is free? i aint got no money but i want to turn my computer into a sound board. (by the way i am not one of those kids who turns your block into a big bass show, i turn it down in the hoods and save it for the open road.)

I draw, write, design, mom, and belittle the common man... It's my thing.

 

wood carving is where i started.......but wanted more......in high school I played in the band, trumpet and some other brass...

...in the last six years, been attending college.......started with clay pottery, throwing on the spining wheel....some hand building, and lots of scupture.......that was in the 3D end of the hall...

.....then to the other end, and start with drawing two or three classes, then a drawing class in the human form........I know you won't like this part (at the half way point in the class, they model nude)...


...I've gone all the way back to metal etching on metal plate, copper, plastic, and wood carving, then print out on paper....using a 2000psi press...

.....I just finished a 3d design class......and have taken 2d design, and a color design class..........


adding up all of my art classes, I have around 75 units of college......and spent three years as a lab tech, in the clay lab.....and spent one whole summer building a wood fired kiln.......I'll add some photos later this week.......

Just on the computer? Work, and forums. Half the time I'm working at forums. Other times I'm relaxing on other forums where I don't work to get away from working at forums.

But mostly work. All the work I can't get done while I'm at a jobsite, because there I don't have access to a computer unless I bring one with me.

 

Over the summer i read up on stuff on the net, and then take on new projects. (currently linux) Plus a major part of my time goes to camping, fishing, and many other outdoor activities.

When school is going on, i take anytime i can to get away from all that work, and just relax.

I sneak up behing my wife and I whisper in her ear:

"Are you gaining weight, dear?"

That usually gets me a few solid kicks.

currently I'm annoying the crap out of my ISP's helpdesk (they advertize you can download faster, so I download some stuff (DEMO's too, so it's legal, just a bit big) and I get cut off... ), watching movies, hanging out with friends, and just randomly driving around.

 

Work at a puter all day long, then go home and check out the news, follow any articles I find interesting, play some games, check out/download some old time radio shows from several OTR oriented news groups, listen to same, keep up with friends & family (email), forums... Nothing exotic. Other than gaming, my puter doesn't get much of a workout.
