i want to do a clean install as i am having problems installing sp2. i have 2 h/drives i copied all the backups i need from 2 h/drive to 1 h/drive. i then want to erase 2 h/d using eraser and reformat and copy backups to it again.

i then want to erase my 1 h/d reformat and install windows to this drive.
do i have to disconect the 2 h/d when reformating the 1 h/d incase of problems .

it is not necessary to disconnect drive 2 while installing windows on it. But if you are easily confused by command propmt level installs then I would just unplugg it for installation so you don't select the wrong drive. But to answer you, it isn't necessary.
