I had read somewhere that adaware is no longer updating their databases, is this true?

 

this is not correct. Lavasoft recently released a BRAND NEW version of their popular spyware fighting tool aptly named Ad-Aware SE. (found here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=506).

This was because their old engine couldn't keep up with the variants. The new one is excellent!

I used to use Adaware but wasn't sure how reliable it truly was, so I got www.adwaresafe.com and it found things Adaware did not. I would highly recommend it!

 

Ad-Aware is an EXCEPTIONALLY reliable piece of software. But like anything, it can't do it all. That is why we always recommend a multiple use policy. Meaning, use multiple programs to eliminate the problems. Ad-Aware in conjunction with programs like SpyBot-Search and Destroy , CWShredder etc, almost always remove the problems..almost. Sometimes an issue requires more work.
