I suppose I could try a lot of things to get my answer, but posting iseasier. I'd like to know exactly what happens and doesn't happen when my laptop with Vista Home is in sleep mode. I know it saves energy, but do things like automatic updates, real-time virus protection, e-mail messages--in short, stuff that happens when not in sleep mode--take place? Thanks.

Also, sleep/hibernate uses as much hard drive space as the RAM that you have installed to save the state in hiberfil.sys I just mentioned this in case you think you're missing HD space when space is getting tight and you're looking to free some space up.
