What does this mean?

    Sorry: I got two lines mixed up. Here is what I wanted to appear--

    I clicked an online radio station's link for listening to the station on the Internet and what appeared on the screen is unintelligible to me. Could someone please tell me what this means, and/or what I can do with it? Here it is:

    <ASX version = "3.0" >

    <ref href = "http://saturn.parallax.ws/stream/video/GMSUPERCENTER.wmv" />

    <ref href = "mms://media.winworld.cc/live/wqlk" />

    </ASX>

    Which browser you using? I suspect Firefox.

    If Firefox its a possability it wont open the streaming media file.....

    Try this, just worked for me, open Windows Media Player and click File > Open URL and past this in http://saturn.parallax.ws/stream/player.asx click OK ( you may see a security popup but if you trust this radio station then click past it.

    you can also paste that URL into IEs Address box and it will automatically open WMP, but for opening in Firefox will give you that exact page listing you posted above, you'll need input from someone who has expertise in that area, likely there maybe a .ASX plugin add-on for Firefox.

    I was using Opera, but after getting your reply I switched to Internet Explorer and got this message: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." So then I went to Firefox and got the same page as what showed up in Opera. So now I will try what you suggested concerning WMP.

    What the heck? I opened WMP and there is no "File" showing on the screen. What have I done?

    You wrote, "Yyou can also paste that URL into IEs Address box and it will automatically open WMP," but I got the same "cannot display the webpage" message that I got with the other procedure you suggested. Nothing seems to want to work for me.

    Try all three of the links on that page. I think the third one should work in IE.

    http://kicks96.com/player.htm

    On my PC the second one asks to Open WMP and then plays using the player.

    mms://media.winworld.cc/live/wqlk

    As far as you having done something wrong, I don't think that is the case. It is just an error in the station's webpage that is displaying that text rather than following the link automatically.

    I'm really messed up. The radio station page I get has just one link. It says "Listen Now." I have listened to stations that give you a choice of WMP, or Real, but this one doesn't.

    First off, dont think this is something you've caused or messed up, likely its the radio stations player, what may work for me or other may not work for you, and vice versa.... odd times its down to some security app blocking.

    If the above doesnt work, then test this as now you have tried via 3 browsers and WMP to play this stream, I got the page links to open WMP in Opera, not in Firefox but this add-on could help with that browser.

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/446

    Do other radio stations that stream media play ok for you?

    Then test with turning off your firewall, if the stream works then your firewall is blocking you, check WMP is not blocked.

    Just for the record, the station must be capable of sending radio at the time I post this because I'm listening to it now.

    From this page, http://www.kicks96.com/ using IE, I clicked on the LISTEN LIVE button near the top and Media Player 9 opened and started playing the station. Firefox got the same error message as first posted.

    Interestingly enough, I tried it with IE 2 or 3 times before trying Firefox and after that, clicking on the button again in IE gave me a blank page and the Media bar opened at the left of the IE window and started streaming from there. WMP didn't open. Media player seems to have had a setting change because of trying the same thing a few times in a row. My guess is that it's probably part of Windows "learning" behaviour in the same way that Windows will stop writing "Shortcut to..." every time you make a shortcut if you make shortcuts enough times in a row.

    But yes, the radio station is able to play through IE at the moment.

    Thanks to all of you who are offering advice and suggestions. After my weird situation of not finding a file menu in my WMP v11, I removed it and the computer automatically reverted to the previous version, No. 10. I now have the file menu back. Should I leave well-enough-alone, or update to v11 again? Meanwhile, I'm going to try your latest suggestions in a continuing attempt to get streaming audio. I think maybe my Zone Alarm Free firewall could be interfering with things. And, yes, I have had success with some radio stations' streaming media--in both WMP and Real.

    Update: The station came through using IE and WMP10. Don't know why or how, but I'm just going to enjoy it. Thanks all for all the help!!
