What happened? and why?

    Running XP SP3.Broadband not usually a problem but strange happenings today. Electricity suppliers are working on re-cabling pylons near us and there was a hitch today when we had a 10 second power outage which, of course switched of both PC and Router. Afterwards I kept getting "limited or no connectivity", on my ethernet lonked PC whilst the other PC on wireless connection had no problems. Trying to "repair" 7 0r 8 times went on for ages and then failed. I did the usual things like uninstalling an re-installing the NVIDIAnforce network driver and switching the router on and off as well as closing windows and re-booting. Eventualy, uninttalled net driver switched off PC, powered down the router and let everything sit for 5 minutes and the system is now back where it should be.
    Don't want to waste your time but any ideas of the cause and reason that my actione actually solved the problem?

    Hi

    Very likely that with a power outage while the PC was on caused some files to corrupt, possibly just a random unlucky thing that it caused your network to be the thing affected.

    May also have just needed you to shutdown and clear the RAM and maybe the modem/router for 5-10 mins then restart reset all back to normal, a warm reboot/restart (over a cold one, complete shutdown, which clears anything held in RAM) may just hold some data which is why you kept getting the same until the complete shutdown and restart.

    Plus re-install of the drivers may have helped also, especially if any where corrupted.

    Just a pure guess, but what I would think is the cause and how you fixed this.
