What happened to my Favorites (NOT!) Menu drop-downs?

While I was phiddling around and pharting around trying to get IE to go to the important MS sites, my Favorites menu went wonky. At first it showed nothing except the Add to Favs and Organize Favs lines, with the double down-arrow, then it showed only the folders and only the specific favs I had used in the last few mins.

It never did this before. I've always had the full set of fav folders showing when I hit Favorites on the Menu Bar, then if I hover over any folder, all of the favs in that folder would show instantly. Now, I seem to have a "show only if recently used" switch set somehow.

How the heck do I get my old FULL display of favs BACK? Where's the switch?

Since nobody seems to know ...

I'm thinking that maybe this happens to the menu if you delete the Files and the Offline and the Cookies and the History on the General tab of Internet Options, and then reboot to a Command and delete the Temp Int Files folder to get rid of Index.dat. But it SHOULDN'T happen.

All you have to do to get the full display back is to click EVERY SINGLE FAVORITE once and go to its target. That's all.

Tedious and stupid. Why did it happen in the first place?

I've not had any problems deleting the Temp Intenet files and I regularily nuke the index.dat file.

try this its for turning on/pff the personalised menus on the Start menu BUT I guess the two could be linked?

Start > Settings > Task Bar and Start Menu > Start Menu > Customise and at bottom of Advanced is "use persinalised menus" untick > apply

    AHhhhhhhhh edit:

In IE goto Tools > Internet Options > Advanced and their is an option for Personalised Favorites Menus untick that > apply

    THAT was it! Thanks, Halo!

Yeppir! I ticked that by accident while i was making sure the main machine's settings in that panel were identical to the backup machine's (where all was working). Didn't even notice it when I re-checked.

Many thanks, man! Now I know, and I won't forget.
