What hobbies prove the geek in you?

For me it would probably be, playing Dungeons and Dragons, playing Magic: The Gathering, choosing to play online rather than go to parties or out with real people (that's just a taste of my geek). How about you guys?

    - my laptop goes every where with me
    - I only book hotels were they have either high speed internet ot wireless
    - when I am on the train, I see how many wireless networks I can log on to at any give station
    - I £45 wireless mouse only last 6months with me, before he breaks
    - I only watch TV programes I can download to my laptop
    - I laugh at the technophobes who only have a 8Mb internet connection, while I have been basking in 10MB cable for years
    - I remember when 56k v92 modems were first sold..
    - I proved that a 486 DX4 was just as fast at a Pentium 60
    - I still have an original "high-speed" x4 CD rom drive!

(shrug) I never worried about it. I do what I like, although I like building/tinkering with puters, enjoy gaming, even online gaming with my kids recently in City Of Heroes and City Of Villains. I also enjoy target shooting, short or long gun, used to build/fly radio control airplanes, was good with a soldering iron and electronics projects, was good with a guitar until my hands got too shaky, lots of other interests over the years. Part-time geek maybe.

I do too, Col. Angus! I think that warrants Geek status.

As an aside, since I bought the shirt two women have come up and asked me about it . . . hmmmmm . . . . yet another reason it's good to be a Geek . . . lol

Maybe I should get a shirt, might attract even more women to me than the tons that currently are atracted to me ;)

I tried Hobbies once.. but my wife kept confusing them with addictions.. so I gave up and started smoking crack instead.

I've honestly been trying to think of one...and unless moderating forums or being a news editor counts, I got nothin'.

I read. I make jewelry. I do crosswords and word searches. I cook. I listen to music I actually purchased. I watch movies I actually purchased. I go out with friends. I date.

Nope, I got nothin'. I'm OK with that.

Well I buy computer parts to play with in one of the 5 systems I now have, then when I get done with it I sell it on eBay, not until tonight while reading another post did I know that you could buy other stuff on eBay besides computer stuff! Wow imagine my face! I was trained in computers by the Air Force in 1976, been hooked every since! Currently have 22 items up for auction, and tomorrow will add 40 more! Then I can turn around and buy more stuff to play with!! My Fiancee introduces me as a Geek, wich gets a funny reaction from people but you know what then they come to me a couple minutes later with "Listen I am having a problem with....." Not sure if this makes me a Geek, but over the years I have learned programing, html, hardware, I currently have all versions of windows that I have collected over the years all the way back to Windows NT 4 with no service packs, and Windows 95, I wont get rid of them because some day I might need them. When my fiancee and I moved to a new apartment complex we rented a 2 bedroom, nope no babies in our future, but one is filling full of computers, monitors, servers (love them!) harddrives, boxes and boxes of add in cards.

If there is nothing to do out in the garage...you know, build a shelf, or clean one of the cars...and the wife hasn't been bugging me to sit down and watch some marathon on TLC...then I'm up in the loft either working on someone elses computer or cross-breeding one for amusement factors or doing something on my pc like sitting here at MG or looking for another good free program to try out...etc., etc.

I just finished my A+ and my wife keeps on me to get my nose into the Network+, but just haven't gotten motivated enough yet!! Suppose I better work on that before my contract runs out with the school at the first of the year!!
