can you please help me figure out what internal 9.7 mm (can u tell me please how much is that in inches?) hard drive I should get for my toshiba 1400-s151? I am looking at least 20 GB, useful unique features, and at least 1 and half year warranty. I don't care about getting more GB for my buck because i already have a external 120 GB hard drive (seagate). so that don't matter. However, what i do care about the hd i should get: realiable, fast, and has unique/different featurea other drives don't have. Therfore please let me know, in your opinion, which are the best ones to get? thank you very much

 

Most laptops use 2.5" drives, or around 63mm wide. 9.7mm is around 0.38 inches.

I guess 9.7mm must be the thickness of the drive. A quick look at a "naked" 10gig IBM Travelstar that I have would approximate to 9.7mm thick, I guess. I haven't measured it.

I think most hard drives have only a 12 month warranty, but welcome any advice to the contrary.

I have 3 IBM Travelstars. 2 x 10 gigs and 1 x 30 gig. The 2 x 10 gigs are over 5 years old and the 30 gig is probably 2-4 years old.

All still working perfectly. Hope that is not a kiss of death on them, but they are working well. Bazza

look to see if you can buy a 7200rpm hdd for it, i know they are scarce and the only mfg that does that is alienware but hey you never know.

to omegamerc: yes i can buy 7200 rpm hd if it works with tosiba. tell me which one u think is the best one to buy please

to bigbazza: on the detail specs of the laptop it says only give the hight of the hd which is 9.7 mm so is it still 0.38 inches? also, if its not, do u think i can fit a 2.5 inches hd in the laptop?
