Well, I'm planning to download a game title "Tales of Pirates". It's an online RPG game. The game requires me to download a torrent for faster loading. I'm just curious, what is a torrent? I've downloaded the uTorrent program, is it a good one? Please fill me in. confused Thanks! :)

u torrent is probably the best torrent download programme,as far as most users say it comes with no known spyware/malware etc , however whatever you download isn't guaranteed to be free of threats , in particular games and software which require installations etc, also you have got to be very carefull as there is very little tolerance on this site with copyright infringements

a torrent file is like a link to the main file and can only be used effectively with a torrent downloading programme eg u torrent

the best way to start a download a torrent is to install your torrent programme then click on a torrent on the net and when it asks how to open it select with u torrent

just be carefull of what you download as there are a lot of bogus torrents out there

    hope that helps

torrents are a special file protocol that can only be downloaded with a torrent client (the standard is actually called 'Bit Torrent') like uTorrent, Bit Comet, etc... Personally, I think uTorrent is the best, and I've tried several before settling on uTorrent. For best results and highest speed torrent downloads, your router (if you're using one) should be configured for maximum effectiveness by 'mapping' or 'forwarding' a port. This basically means that you dedicate a port in the router exclusively for torrent downloads, and you should fix your IP address (create a static IP versus a dynamic IP). All this is explained much more clearly at www.portforward.com and it's actually pretty easy to do all this. Go to the site with your router's make and model number handy, and follow the steps- print 'em out if you can. Good luck and keep us posted!!!

Can I download music through limewire?

depends if you currently own the music

limewire is different to u torrent in many ways

if you dont own the music or break any copyright infringements you wont get any help on this site as the mods/owners dont want to break the law

also from my previous experiences with p2p programmes its only a matter of time before you get some nasties on your computer

it's good to always remember there are people out there who do nothing else than try to completely wreck your system.
p2p is the easiest way to give you a virus so beware.

I downloaded a programme yesterday from a very good source i checked it out first with bitzi and it was clean that is until i tried to run it and it gave me 4trojan down-loaders, i am lucky that my Internet security is a bit over the top (it slows down everything) but it picked them up and i got away with it next time i may not be so lucky.
