I tried to install my MusicMatch Jukebox Player on my other computer and it say's that there is a problem with RPC stub and will not install. This computer is running Windows XP Home Edition and used the Player fine. The other computer is running Windows 98 SE. Is it because Windows 98 SE is to old an OS and not compatible? Or do I just have to find the right RPC stub somewhere and install it?

RPC stands for Remote Procedure Call. It's what is known as a "middle-ware level". It allows a distributed system to call procedures irrespective of whether the code sits on a local computer, or one 3000 miles elsewhere.

An RPC system has two two kinds of Stub, the Client Stub and the Server Stub. To simplify, they are basically proxies and multiplexors. They store requests to and from a procedure, and then re-direct to the necessary component that deals with the request (e.g. ,if its a request in a Client Stub, it will pass the request onto the relivant procedure).

Knowing about Middleware is generally only useful if you want to code a distributed application (or writing Middleware, obviously). All you need to know about it in Windows is that you definately want the service handling RPC enabled.
