What is "Base" Application?

    Have customer who gets a small Popup Windows will no information and the Windows Task Manager shows a Red Stylized X Base in the Application window.

    The only thing that I can think of is that this has something to do with Base Filtering Engine. Does anyone else know what this is?

    Hi

    What Windows version and Service pack are they using?
    Are they on a corporate network or a home PC?


    If they right click Base in Task Manager and choose Properties under General ? Location what does it say?

    and whats the full details of Properties > Details tab?

    This may link us to a software and vendor.

    If they cannot work out a vendor to this popup the malware has to be a suspect and the below is best followed.

    They are running Windows 7 SP1 in a corporate environment.

    They do not get Properties as an Option when they right click Base

    Curious to know if it has something to do with this:

    This is a computer language that can be used to create data entry forms. Apparently, XBase++ apps can be used all the way up to Windows 7.

    I would have to urge the same if the user is worried, Base could be a corporate network security feature.

    I have all sorts of sys tray icons in my work PC, most are security as well as system application related, nothing I can do about them as its not my PC. the thing is with corporate PCs is mess with them and remove components, then its likely a stackable offence, hence many on forums will steer clear of giving advice to circumvent.
