What is best router out there?

he could you guys give me some names of routers that you think are the fastest, best security, most reliable/ durable, etc we had a DIR 655 but we have had problems with it and now it has finally busted. we need the router to be wireless and fast since we have some gamers in this house. thanks for your input.

 

I run cable in hostile environments. On board ships, in High Schools and even and Art Gallery (weekly wall moving for new art). I use Belkin Cat 5e wire and Netgear routers and switches. Get the better stuff and you will have one less worry in your life.

There is No Best in general.

There are solutions according to needs, and means.

If your Wireless clients are Not N then you would get good service from a good 802.11g Router and an independent Giga switch.

Actually I use that one at home. Works perfectly for me, but as cat5e says, check your compatibility. We each learn by our experiences and I will not buy Buffalo. Might be fine in stable environments, but fluctuating power killed two of them on me. I live close to a power factor adjustment station and PG&E spikes me pretty hard when they add or remove capacitor banks.
