What is "more" Secure?

If you had to choose one or the other, which would be "better"/"more secure" (on a private, home PC w/ a slow DSL connection - and which is relatively well-protected by a good deal of other security programs already):

    1. Securing my browser (Firefox 3.0.10) with its Master Password capability?

    2. Making it so my yahoo email would have to be signed-into every time (and which is already "protection enhanced" with it's sign-in seal on; "https://login.yahoo.com/config/login?.pd=......")?

I'm hoping to have one or the other for security, but not have to enter passwords for both each and every time I want to start the browser/check email.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Glenn

What would you be securing yourself against?

If malware then best practices in adding security apps from our protect yourself against malware guide is good and keep all apps and OS upto date.

Use a limited account which I know you do and have passwords for both it and admin account is good for physical security to stop anyone infront of your PC using your accounts and PC.

I tend to use my online email accounts where I have to type in user and pass each time, its no biggy for me as doesnt take long to type.

Yeah, indeed its a high secure type password and utilises the likes os numbers for letters and none standard charcaters, so for instalnce say Majorgeeks, would be for me, m4j0r_g33ks as an example.

@Glenn, securing your browser and email is part and parcel of the main security of your OS, so keep that secure and uptop date and the rest should be ok, dont give out any details as in name and email online on forums etc

run a malware scanner say every few weeks or so and just get to know what items are in your startup, if you see one that is not normal then look its file name up to double check, but you have been installing apps then its possible that the new statup could be from that app, so take note of what startups you have before installing apps.

Basically its like getting to know your PC like a friend.

Yes thanks folks. I'm realizing over time that one of the many things that I am simply not good at is trying to ask clear questions (in addition to often not understanding what I am reading) online. Online "communication" - that, is what I have trouble with.

Here's my dilemma, and please forgive me if you've already answered it (and if I'm still just not, 'getting it').

The way things are currently set-up in my Firefox browser on this PC (apparently - at least on one of the user accounts) is such as when I sign-in or log-in (or is it "log-ON"??) to Majorgeeks here. I get the same standard user name box which we all get, and then I check "Remember me" (which it sometimes seems to "remember" - and other times not), and then I type in my password.

Then I get a drop down box (or 'pop-up'?) from the top of the window asking if I want Firefox to "Remember" the password for this site - with three options - "not now" "never for this site", or "yes" (I think that's what they are?).

Then, if I want to check email (from any of the several email addresses I have, unfortunately), I have to enter more info (email address, and a password again).

And this goes on & on for me - as I am a member on a good number of different web-forums for many different types of things.

Now, let me see if I understand this Firefox Master Password Option - thing.

If I were to set-that-up (with all the appropriate info.), will it assist me in only having to sign in ONCE, when I start my browser, so that then, when I click on those sites (from my Bookmarks/Favorites lists), I will be automatically logged-in/signed-in/logged-on?

Sorry for making this so confusing ...
