I'm having probs with my computer and I can seem to find out for sure if it's good or bad. Thanks!

    Go to:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/servicedesks/fileversion/dllinfo.asp&SD=TECH&FR=0
Make sure the box on the left says to search by PRODUCT and FILE and then you can type in any .dll you want to know about.

    Leave off the .dll part.
This is what it says for mwshelp:

    Product: .NET Framework
    Version: .NET Framework 1.0 SP1
    File Name: mwshelp

I believe the filename you mentioned is bad and there are also warnings about not deleting it because it caused more problems. That could be because of an incorrect method of deletion though.

Before going any further you should follow all the procedures and run all the programs listed here:
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

If you think you have already download these programs, make sure you verify that you have the correct versions. Ad-aware for example just updated a hour or so ago.

So sorry, it's a good site to go to but what I showed you:
    Product: .NET Framework
    Version: .NET Framework 1.0 SP1
    File Name: mwshelp

is wrong because YOU need to choose the Product and the Version (you're OS, program where you think the problem is, etc.) and after you plug that in to the "equation", then you type in mwshelp or mwshelp.dll and see if it has any info. (the .NET is what came up automatically and I was thinking it was just the default...) I realize it's not. If you go there and plug in your info it might tell you more.

Or forget about getting "details" and follow chaslang's advice and read carefully the post he sent you to and follow ALL those steps and you should be on your way.

    For more information...
    Matacumbie sent me this:
I think yours are specifically mentioned in section 3 and 6 on the page

Yes that is one of the places that indicated that it may not be a good idea to just delete that file.

    Biscuit,

I think that we are going to have to run FINDnFIX as I have given in a few other threads but first I need to know an OS. Always provide an OS with every new problem description thread you start. And make sure you have run all the items I gave you in my previous message with the 35407 link.
