Alright so in the middle of fixing my computer (i downloaded panda and it totally didn't work, it made my computer slower then it was with norton) i saw a process called svhost.exe that I think has something to do with my dsl connection. Well anyways I noticed that there was like 5 of these processes going on at once. I didn't know if I needed that many and I wasn't sure what to do so I did nothing. I figured I would come to you guys. I am using Win XP just so ya know and I fixed the problem by uninstalling Panda internet secuirity and just using norton again.

Most programs run as .exe files, but some Services run directly from .dll files (mainly WIndows processes). Svchost.exe is the Generic Host Process that allows the .dll files to be loaded into memory and executed as a program.

    Process File: svchost or svchost.exe
    Process Name: Service Host Process
Description: Application that works as a host process for services that run from dynamic link libraries.
    Company: Microsoft Corp.
    System Process: Yes
    Security Risk ( Virus/Trojan/Worm/Adware/Spyware ): No
    Common Errors: N/A

It is also common to have 4 or 5 of these processes in memory. You can find out which services/files are in each SVCHOst.EXE by opening up a DOS prompt and typing 'tasklist /svc'

Let's be careful here Neo! If you meant svhost.exe (which I doubt because you said you saw 5 of them), you would have to worry. svhost.exe is the WORM_SDBOT.QF
    See: http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=WORM_SDBOT.QF

However, if you meant svchost.exe, the info posted by everyone who replied is correct.

    Hmmm ... That didn't work.
Thought I knew how to do that, but obviously didn't. Maybe I should ask how to do a DOS promt?
    Thanks!
