    Hello to all,
I have a folder called system volume information on all my partitions and when I try to open it I get a message saying "access denied".
Can anyone explain what it is and should it be there?

This is where XP stores System Restore information. The inaccessibility is related to your drive being formatted in NTFS, I think, since I have one drive that is FAT32 and one that is NTFS, and the FAT32 allows me to see the contents of the folder you are talking about, whereas the other does not.

The System Volume Information folder is where Windows XP stores System Restore points and associated information that makes them accessible. Under most circumstances there is no need to access this folder. How you gain access depends on the XP version, file system, and whether you are part of a domain.
