    Hello,

    as the title says, what is the best DVD authoring software?

    I have a problem with a dvd that consists of 2 dvd folders (dvd1=1.6 gb, and dvd2 2.25 gb). Its a concert dvd that the idiots making the dvd put in 2 dvd folders, so i would have to burn 1.6 gb on one dvd, and 2.25 on second dvd, and i' getting tired of this, it's not the first time, and this dvd is vol. 1, so i guess the vol.2 and 3 are have the same problem.

    So, what is the BEST software not only for burning 2 dvd folders on 1 dvd, but also for everything else what's got to do with dvd authoring, editing...

    Thanks in advance

    I have a trick I sometimes use when I can't make up my mind about what software to download. I search YouTube. The place is loaded with tutorial videos where you can watch how other people use the programs, the options, the GUIs, the add-ons and more. It makes it easier to recognise the one you would like to use yourself.

    Personally I use Pinnacle's Studio Plus.
    This is not a free program, but it is reasonably priced
    (On eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/Pinnacle-Studio...ryZ99334QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem , around $60 - which includes a USB capture device as well as the program)
    This suite allows you to do nearly anything that you can imagine.
    And it is very user friendly with many online and on CD tutorials.
    There are some freeware programs that will do the same things but IMHO you need several degrees in computer programing and videotography to make them work.

    @Cordialis,

    thats good advice, but not what im looking for now. Need a name, but thanks.

    @joelsz,

    thanks, now i know that Pinnacle is good, but could you throw in two more names, so i can take a closer look at them all, and then decide? I see Sony Vegas and Adobes Premier mentioned often. Wich would you say is best?

    I'm unfamiliar with Sony Vegas, but I have used Adobe's Premier.
    Although it was a number of years ago and I'm sure they have improved on the product, I found Premier to be more cumbersome (slow to render) and costly (on eBay the cheapest I find is $130 http://cgi.ebay.com/Adobe-Premier-E...VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247 - direct from adobe its $150. This is their "Elements" version the full pro version is about $350 -- These prices are for the program only; no hardware is included)

    Premier is (or at least was) fairly user friendly.

    Ok, the winner is Pinnacle. Thanks

    Well, I did some heavy research into the same topic a while back. I was told to stay away from Pinnacle at the time (not sure if that's still a good idea). But I'd check out some reviews.

    I eventually settled on Adobe Premier Elements.

    hmm, i have pinnacle (not exactly sure of what version), but it recently wouldn't let me do certain things. i didn't pay for it, it came with my tv tuner card. i used to be able to edit my videos, but now lately, it says i either don't have enough ram, or not enough disk space, well i have plenty of both (win xp "mce", 3.0 ghz, 3.24 gbyte ram, 200 gbyte free ram space. i might have to uninstall/reinstall? - g/l, sos

    edit - when it did work, i didn't have any problems, but i only edited less than 10 or 5 videos, or so? i tend to use freeware, or free programs, if i can get away with it. - sos

    I create a DVD every week for my church (they are distributed to our shut-ins) and post video clips on the church website.
    I do all my editing using Pinnacle and have never had a problem with it.

    There are detractors for every software program, but I can't imagine anyone not being able to use Pinnacle.

    But then a sudden turn of events! I left Pinnacle, and taken Sony Vegas. Why? I was reading peoples comments on a video editing forum, and they agree that Pinnacle is realy user friendly, and a good program, but it cant compete with Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere... So i took Sony, and i'm pleased with the looks of it. Now i have to figure out how do i burn 2 dvd folders on 1 dvd.

    I'm new to this video editing thing. Will agree, Moviemaker bites ! I have a bunch of clips and slidshows, I've gotten thru E-mail. The funny, or really good ones I've saved off onto my HD. If you can keep Moviemaker from crashing, the space required on a CD is huge. Does Pinnacle, or any of the others, allow you to change the format from MPG, WMV, or PPT, to a DVD type? If they can get a three hour movie on a DVD, sure beats 30 minutes that Moviemaker produces.
    Thanks........
