What Is The Best Way To Play Old Win95/98 Games On Win11?

I just moved and while unpacking boxes that have been in storage for almost 5 years, I came across a lot games I forgot I had, some still unopened. And of course duplicates! Compatibility mode is hit or miss. About 10 yrs ago I learned the basics of DOSBox, but I was wondering if there was a easier way to load up these games. Like maybe a VM? What's the best way and where can I get it?? TIA.......

Emulation or Virtual Machine. If you go the VM route, you'll need enough drive space to run them, and of course a machine capable of backing them up. Emulation in some cases can be wonky for consoles. Some commercial games don't run well sometimes, and occasionally they don't run at all or crash, rendering issues, et cetera. Most of the time they can run just fine, or with a few hiccups. It just depends on the emulation settings as well. Some games require tweaking. The good news is the older they are, the better chance for compatibility. Also, there are some legal grey areas about possessing the emulator without owning the console. Most of the reason I boxed up all my consoles, carts, and *-ROMs and went emulator was it's more convenient, controller mapping (XInput), and filtering allows play on modern 4k displays without pixelation.
