What is the difference beetween these 2 cards?

'512mb 8800 Geforce GT' and '512mb 8600 Geforce GTS'

What would the difference be in laymans terms?

 

the 8600gts is nowhere near as powerful as the 8800gt. the 8800gt would give you a lot better performance in game.

 

In layman's terms : The 8800 GT OWNS the hell out of the 8600 GTS, it's even incrementally better than the 8800 GTS , right now the best card to be had is the 8800 GT , period.

The GTX is better, but only marginally, and the very small performance gain is NOT worth being almost double the price. In short, get a GT, if you want proof type "8800 GT reviews benchmarks" in google and see for yourself how it compares. It even performs better than the Radeon HD2900 XT, and this is coming from a long-time Radeon fan.
