Actually DDR3 memory consumes less watts, making it run cooler and thus faster. Thats why some of the highest end cards consume less then alot of older cards; and are able to achieve better performance.

Yeah I was just wondering what all i need to know, im thinking about the ATI RADEON X700 AGP-4X/8X 256mb, and it supports GDDR3 memory, but does my ram have to be a certain type?

nope no special ram needed, what are you paying for it? for about 50$ more you can get a much better x800.
