What is the picture on some loging pages?

I use a bank site. I selected an image and I added the phrase under the picture. If I don't see the correct picture or the phrase is not what I added, then I know I am on a fake banking site that tries to mimic the real bank site. I then shut down my browser without logging in so the idiots can't steal my username/password.

 

Its possible to spoof a log in page on websites so it looks just like the official one.

Have the Image and what you named it is so that you know you are actually logging into you bank's (or whatever account) official site since that can not be spoofed.

 

Because they are specifically of your choosing and spoofers spoof the general site. They do not have access to everyone's sign in page. If they do, that means they have your username and are specifically targeting you.

These spoofing techniques are probably mostly going to be used in phishing emails, where they try to get you to click on their link in an email and enter your account info or personal info. Its going to be sent to a lot of people in hopes that they get someone dumb enough (sorry...but true in this day and age) to click and give them access.
