What is the problem????

Hi this is my old computer:

problem: Recently i cant play my games on my pc anymore , the graphics slowly started to mess up when i played games then at last the game wont even start.
I tried running the 3d benchmark test but it froze.
i change the powersupply but still same problem .
could my agp slot be damaged or is it the video card?

 

Latest video card drivers installed?
Also, can you try another video card and what games do you have problems running?

 

I ruled out the software problem ... its the hardware problem its not one game its all the games they wont even start it just freezs
they worked before

 

How did you rule out a software problem?Its near impossible.The only way to rule out software completely is a fresh install of windows along with all the latest drivers,is that what you have tried?

 

yeah i formatted everything installed the latest drivers and i also tried installing a older version since some cards work better with old drivers

i changed the powersupply still same problem

 

Could be overheating,try running it without the side on,and/or let a room fan blow on it.

 

since your cpu is only in the 50's from your other thread,could be your vid card overheating,check hoew hot it is in display properties.

 

How can i check the video card temperature ..

and recently my computer went funny in colours on the screen so i restarted and after 30 minutes the pc crashed n restarted

 

and is there a chance that my agp slot been damaged or motherboard

[Im bit worried] i need to know exact problem before i can purchase a new
video card

 

Desktop right click,properties,settings,,advanced,6600gt,temperature settings.

i got the Geforce mx 440 64MB

and Can my agp Slot be damaged ? n if so i heard if the agp slot is damaged and a card is been added it damages the new card as well

 

Any faulty peice of hardware can damage other parts but there isn't another way to test without plugging something in,the only real way to damage the agp socket is to phisically break it with a screwdriver or something,plug your 6600gt in see if that works,or swap out the video card into your p4 system.

 

ok so if i put in another video card and play a game for atleast 1 hour and i find no problem does it mean my pc is fine.

so my agp slot cant be damaged because im using the pc it displays everything properly exept games.

 

If you try a working vid card and it plays games fine,the agp port is fine and logically the mx is faulty,since software and drivers have been ruled out
