Good evening geeks, running XP Home SP3
I am quite sure that I have no malware, but when I Google the following folder names that reside in the C:/Windows/WinSxS folder, there is a lot of internet forum malware discussion links...

Each of these folders that Google as possible malware contains the msvrc80.dll file, as well as a couple of other ms driver files.

Here is the deal, a few weeks ago Nero Vision started giving me a runtime error when attempting to open ONLY that component in Nero. NeroAG says the problem is a conflict with the msvrc80.dll file. If you look at the attached screen shot of a search I did on the driver name you will see 14 different copies of this file NOT including 15 copies in .cab folders. I believe that it is possible that this many copies of the same driver with different versions could be causing the problem so I want to temporarily remove all but the most recent that I will place in C:/Windows and test the individual programs in this list that call for that driver.

But what are these five folders listed up above, how can a folder name be considered possible malware, and would there be a problem removing the driver of interest?

I am working through this in the software forum but the malware references on Google is why I came here, but my major issue of the moment is with a file inside the folder.

These folders and files are all valid and part of Windows as is thw WinSxS folder that contains them. The msvdc80.dll file is just part of Microsoft® C Runtime Library

Any question you have about your problems with Nero and these files should be posted in the Software Forum which is where I will move this thread to now.
