What is this? Ipconfig stuff

    I was doing some goffing off tonight and was just looking around the ipconfig stuff and found these when I did the ipconfig /displaydns. Can anyone tell me what these are/mean? I have been having s l o w internet as of late and was wondering if these entrys are any of the problem? This is a VERy small sample of what the displaydns cam up with.

    HI

    This info in using /displaydns is the DNS ( Domain Name System ) resolver cache, which stores previously viewd sites and caches the IP to URL to speed up things as the OS looks in its DNS cache first before using the Domain Name Servers, however at times you can get negative entries in here in which "could" slow browsing down, to combat this you can try one other ipconfig switch in, ipconfig /flushdns to flush out the DNS cache.

    I tried the ipconfig /flushdns then did the display one again and it came up with the same entries? Some of the don't sound like any sites I've ever been to or even opened by accidently. Stuff like httpwwads.com?www.errarti.it? internet-optimizer.com? wwwjustcount.com? l8bero.it?paginegialler.it? www.searchfromyourbrowser.net? spermatriz.com?www.tuttograatis.it? What the heck are them!?!?!?? Anyone?????

    christopherjellybean, what you see is protecting you. Those are sites you do not want to go to and if you check, it says 127.0.0.1 under a (host) record. That means if you try to go to one of the sites listed, you will get a 404 error - site not found. Programs like SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuardian and a downloadable Hosts File, add this information to your computer to protect you from malicious sites.

    OOOOOOooooo ok. i was worried cause some was places that I know i don't go to or wouldn't got...or even heard of..Ok thanks ya'll! I guess a little knowlage (LOL) is a dangerous thing! HA HA
