WinXP Home SP3 on an older HP ze4900 laptop..... everything seems to be OK, no malware, PC is running fairly quick for an older system, but in my poking around to be thorough, and found a very strange item listed in the Device Manager when I enabled "View Hidden Devices" and looked in "Non Plug-And-Play Drivers"... take a look at the screen shot attached below and post any comments... I Googled it and found nothing. I think it may be linked to McAfee software somehow, but there is no McAfee software on this PC, and has never been as far as I know....

    Thanks!

(maybe I should have gone to the driver forum with this?)

It's an MSE driver, safe :)

On reading about this file, it has been suggested that MPKSL stands for Malware Protection Kernel Support Library. The alphanumeric string will change after each MSE update.

Thanks for the info . . . I was pretty sure it was safe, I was just curious as to what it was 'cuz I found nothing via Google. The PC does have MS Security Essentials installed, so I guess that explains it. ;) Thanks again!
