    Hi!

I have Windows XP Home. I tried to install a program, but the computer said not to continue as the software wasn't XP compatible tested. We looked at the softwares website, and they say that Windows XP Home is supported, but Windows XP 64 bit is not.

How do I find out which one I have? Would it be fatal to continue otherwise?

    Thanks muchly!
    ;)

It just sounds like the software hasn't been tested by windows. In this situation, you should be fine. If you have any doubts because it's not verified by microsft, then check google to see if anyone else has had problems with the program on xp home.

    I'm 90% sure that you'll be fine.

Display the Properties dialog for My Computer.
Right mouse click on the My Computer icon then select "Properties" from the context menu. Under the General tab on the Properties dialog, the section title System should reference if the machine is 64-bit Windows. For example, on 64-bit Windows XP, the System section of the General tab displays:

Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

    :)
You need better drivers for 64 bit compatibility ...I would leave it alone

    Thanks!

Discovered that I don't have the 64 bit. The manufacturers website says that 64 bit is not compatible with the installed program.

Their website says XP Home is supported, eventhough my computer gives me a compatibility warning. So, if I go ahead and continue with the programs setup, against the warning, can I just do a system restore if I happen to run into problems after installation?

    Could you name the program?
Out of curiosity I'd like to see if I get the same 'Warning' as I am also XP Home Edition.

    Hi!

The bf just bought a used "Superchips Flashpaq Tuner" gaget that reprograms his trucks computer. (That's how I understand it anyways, lol).

Apparently, if you go to their website, you can download any available updates to your "Tuner". Then, during setup you're supposed to connect the Tuner to the computer to update it. However, I didn't complete the setup because of an XP compatibility warning that scared the poop outta me, lol.

    I hear ya!
I won't be able to 'see' the warning since I don't have the software required....so....
Sounds like a plan and a restore point would be a must...for ME.
    Good Luck!
    :)

Thanks for wishing me luck, lol. I've created a new restore point just in case. For a computer dummy like myself, I think that was the first thing I've learned! Backup your work! lmao

The warning is no big deal. It just means that it's not WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) certified.

A lot of drivers aren't, that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with them, it just means they haven't paid Micro$$oft to test and digitally sign them.

You can turn this warning feature off, but it's easier just ignoring it.

I appreciate everyones help! The computer works just fine after downloading the updated program past the compatibility warning flag. Thank you for explaining to me that it's ok to do so in this particular situation.
    ;)
If it wasn't for you guys, I'd still be sitting at the computer chewing my nails, sweating it out, heart pounding, if I should press the "ok" button to continue, lmao. Thank you!
