Just got this from my dad inthe e-mail.... read it over a few times, and honestly, it is one of those things that I think is worth sharing. Mods, if you disagree, I apologize and bow to your decision:

    Nice read.

Unfortunately the US media is not willing report anything of substance, only doom & gloom.

It's nice to know however, that there are judges out there who actually get it since most Americans obviously don't.

Actually I did hear about his sentencing, simply because the person who "masterminded" the attempted shoe-bomb attack was from (and caught and arrested) in my home town of Gloucester, UK.

I simply hate the fact that even Americans are converting to Islam and pledging allegiance to Osama and Al-Qaeda. I say anyone who gets caught tryin to run a terrorist plot should get the death penalty as an example to all of those who hate freedom.

The irony being, if it wasn't for the freedom Americans enjoy, they wouldn't be able to convert to Islam in the first place......

I dont hate anything about Islam but when they start to act Neo-Nazi, saying everyone should praise Allah and death to the Christians and saying Allah says to kill the infidels thats what ticks me off.

Its funny,we had that one eyed hook guy islamic extremist taking advantage of our freedom, our benifit system to persaude people to attack the very system that was supporting him :) he recieved around £11,000 a year in benifits,a house and a free mobility car

He said England was the only place he could stay because he'd be killed in other countries, bullshit,he liked the life he was provided,I hope he has nice dreams of the good old days in his US prison cell :)

Guys, I hate to rain on your parade but this crazy shoe bomber guy isn't mad at you because of your freedom, he's mad at you because of your foreign policy.

He's a frickin loonie nonetheless but don't jump on the jingoistic bandwagon and read more books ;)

BTW, I'm sure the judge's comments were broadcast on Fox News.

    Cheers!

I had to abide by that foreign policy to get into the US. Why should he have an issue with it...after all...he was allowed into the UK.

Cake and eat it springs to mind... ;)

I have to disagree with this, mainly all terrorists are jealous of our freedom and the freedom of other countries they fight against; they hate the fact that we have it and they don't. To satisfy this craving they have for freedom, they try there best to pry it from our countries hands and shove it in a trash can, just so they can be equal.

Come on, you're oversimplifying. Do you think the religious leaders who brainwashed this poor/weak/crazy guy were coaxing him by telling him about American freedoms? No, they were telling him about how arabs always get the short hand of the stick and blah blah blah... (which is kinda of true, but they've mostly got themselves to blame)

You ain't going to convince no one to kill himself by telling him about American freedoms. You tell him that America is the root of his suffering.

    Take care!
    G'night

Choco no need for personal comments:) I actually agree with you that foreign policy is the cause of Islamic extremism,I'v never seen I a martyr video where the the martyr claims he is doing it because of the Wests freedoms, terrorism happens in any society when an overwhelming military force is used on a less advanced culture the only twist the IE have brought is suicide

But none the less if the guys who carry out the attacks had thier own way we would all be under Islamic law,in that sense they do not want everyone to be free

Its two sided coin where both arguments can be valid,I think our governments use the hate freedom pitch more often than is neccessary,I think its like treating the symptom not the cause to deviate our attention away from the real cause,I truely believe we are making things worse over there and driving a larger gap between our two cultures,I just dont think this one will be won with guns and bombs, our leaders seem to disagree
