First, for your RAM to be so maxed out at 94% utilization and only 973MB available, this suggests there is something wrong going on. IMO, this needs to be troubleshot and fixed before thinking about buying more RAM. Typically, for most users performing most tasks, 16GB is plenty and for them, adding more RAM yields little to no noticeable performance gains.

What else was running when you took that screen shot? Tell us more about your system (hardware, OS, security, etc.). How much free disk space do you have on your boot drive?

My typical advice when folks want to add RAM is to look at your motherboard’s webpage for the QVLs (qualified vendors lists) for compatible RAM and CPUs. To ensure compatibility you should buy a CPU from the list but there are too many RAM makers and models for motherboard makers to test them all. So, to ensure compatibility you should buy RAM with the same specifications as listed RAM.

I also recommend using the Crucial System Scanner. This little applet will scan your system, determine what you have and what your system supports, then recommend upgrade options. You don't have to buy from Crucial, but if you do, they guarantee compatibility. And with my last RAM upgrade for my laptop, Crucial actually beat Amazon's price.

Most other RAM makers have similar wizards. For example, G.SKILL has their RAM Configurator.

But again, your system is showing other problems that, IMO (at least with the information we have now), will not be resolved simply by adding more RAM.
