What Motherboard should i get???? please help need advice

hello i have recently got a new motherboard in my computer but its a crappy one lol . I am looking to get a new motherboad and am on a tight budget. all i know is its a socket 478 and its going into a gaming computer so something with gaming specs i dont know lol i need some "professional" help and that would come from you guys. Thanks for your help and time. Also would i have to purchace a PCU seperate or does it come with it i have never bought a motherboard before. please help thanks

 

I guess you're doing old gaming then? Socket 478 is of the Celeron/ Pentium D vintage. Or was that a typo? How much are you willing to spend and we'll see what we can up with and it won't be a 478. What games are you currently able to play as the current ones won't even load on that.

 

no its not a typo lol i dont know nothing about computer hardware i dont know if the socket can be changed or not but i need advice lol i bought this computer off of someone else who had it as a gaming computer and then the motherboard died and my computer mechanics, "fixed" it but not the way i wanted they ripped me off BIG TIME

 

Sorry to hear that. As to changing the socket well that's impossible. You'll have to get a new motherboard/CPU and memory reusing everything else you have if you can. Budget and games you are playing are now needed for anyone to take a half decent guess. Anyways, no point in you spending good money on 8 year old tech.

 

ummmm. i dont really play games but i would like to start playing flight simulators right now i have trucking simulators so ummmm 18 wheels of steel but for some reason it says that "windows cannot open a window to play this game" or something along that line lol i dont want nothing TOOO expensive like less than 200.00 would suit my needs im pretty sure but i dont know lol i dont have a job and im a student in highschool so i dont know.

If it says you cant play the game it could be your gfx card. Check the system requirements on the game to see what you need.
