Yes nvidia chiset motherboards can run ATI video cards, and No you wont need a new Processor.

the limiting or deciding factor here is your X850xt. Is it AGP8x or PCI-Express? If its AGP, your motherboard choices are more limited, but cheaper.

if AGP and you plan to keep the video card, I'd recommend an MSI K8N-Neo2 Platinum.

if PCI-Express, I'd recommend an Asus A8N series, anything from the A8N-E (single video card slot), to the A8N-SLI Deluxe or Premium, which have 2 video card slots for SLI if you so plan to use them in the future (requires 2 of the same Nvidia video card)

You still haven't answered the question, is your video card AGP or PCI-Xpress

    That will determine the motherboard.

Take a look at the ASUS A8N-VM CSM.

It isn't a full size ATX board, but it has everything, including PCI Xpress slot and built-in graphics.

It is very well priced, and can support up to an AMD 4800+, and uses the latest nVidia nForce 430 chipset.

An awesome board at a great price. Highly recommended.
