What new hardware ?

Hello all
After installing the latest XP updates, my computer keeps telling me that it has found new hardware everytime i start windows. The thing is i havn't installed any . Can some of you please give me a hand ? I have XP Pro with SP3 thanks in advance Dave .

Check your Device Manager (Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager) - are there any flags showing?

Thanks for that . I had a look and there was no flags . One thing i did notice was that when the bubble appears on the task bar that says " new hardware found is says " system " under neath it . The most annoying thing is that every time i close it ,the install new hardware wizard pops up so i have to drag it into the lower corner of the moniter out of the way .

Hi

At times I have known this to be the Printer connected via USB that causes this so see if this helps HERE

Also when this happens open Device Manager up and click View and Show all Hidden Devices and do any list with a yellow ! mark or are standing out, generally if your PC is ok the list will look similar to below (my hardware and drivers will be different to yours but we are looking for the +'s of the device types being open).

also if you have any USB devices plugged in, unplug them and reboot and do you get the same message?
