Have recently downloaded and installed FAH on my machine.
Upon starting the program. icon appears in the taskbar, but nothing happens.
Move mouse over the icon gets a message "CPU-F@h; Attempting to get work packet"
Same message after 30 minutes waiting.
    Have I missed something?

Let it sit for a couple more hours. Sometimes Stanford's servers have some problems or are overloaded.

Make sure your firewall is letting it through. Have you got a core yet? Something like FahCore-11, check your logs to see if it was downloaded as that's the first thing that has to happen.

    Finally got a response.
Don't know what the project is, but at 70/1500 in the Queue.
How do you find out what you are working on?

Grab FahMon and it will give you great stats. Very easy to use and just about everyone uses this as a benchmarking tool.

Did you configure it to your Folding name and team 12072? (hope I got the team number right, please correct me if I got it wrong.;))

Get FahMon like Augie said. It is a great little free program! You can also check your stats here: http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=12072

Just search for your folding name or search on your team's page. It updates every 3 hours, so it may take a bit before you show up. Depends on what you are folding with.

Can also right click tray icon, choose Status and view several options.

Sorry to take so long getting back.
    Project 4445
    Run 257
    Clone 3
    Gen 7
    Core 78
    Currently at 855/1500
Also folding with Boinc on 2 projects at the same time.
CPU temp steady at 150 degrees.

150º? Dude, shut it down and find out if that is a temperature program error or what! That is not right in C or F temps! I suspect a temp monitor program failure, but don't toast your rig!

At 150°, jeez, shut it down!!!

Nah Fred, 65C ain't that bad though 150C would indicate an expensive doorstop.:p Still, that temp is too near burnout time. You need more cooling man, pronto!

Yeah, but Augie, I found music to back it up! :-D

    Temps are from SpeedFan 4.37
    150 F
    66 C
Machine running stable at this temp for last 15 hours non-stop.

I would recommend aftermarket cooling. That is just how I 'roll'. :-D

Ya, like I said before not bad but could be lower just by adding a cheap fan. Mine went from 65 to 58 with a $6 fan.

    34 hours non-stop.
Temp holding steady at 149 F
Still folding with F@H here and using Boinc for Einstein@home
All this while attending the forums.

Ditched the Boinc to devote more to the team.
Excess heat was caused by the F@H viewer. Turned it off and lost 8 degrees.
First results were 250 points and 1 WU. Puts me at 655th spot.
Currently at 465/1500 on this assignment.

Which F@H viewer were you using? Don't use the F@H graphical viewer, can really slow down your points! Use F@H Mon. Free, works great!

  19. hrlow2

    hrlow2 MajorGeek

Was using the viewer that came in the F@H Windows Win 32 x86 system package.

I could be getting mixed up, the viewing thing with F&H slows Nvidia GPU folding massively! Just let folding run, and check your stats using F@HMon.

Don't really know what graphics this machine has. Never checked, but is integrated in the motherboard. Intel I believe.
I just start F@F and forget the viewer is there.
    510/1500 now.

You are most likely using the graphical CPU version. If you feel comfortable with it, you might want to run the console version. It runs in the background if you set it up right, and you can check the progress by checking your log file, or by using a monitoring program like F&HMon. Console version is supposed to give you more PPD.

The only other that I saw was a Command Line DOS type of thing that got removed( had it first) and replaced.

    Are you CPU folding?

Yes. This P4 with HT seems to do OK.
Also discovered that when I widened the gap between checkpoints, my temps dropped another couple of degrees. Now running at 143 degrees.
