Just bought a new (read upgrade) mobo from ebay (P4S800-MX SE, socket 478), but have never installed a new board before.

I currently run a 478 board and want to transfer the CPU, ram etc onto the new board, and the hard drive without formatting unless I have to.

I've read the thread about transfering the HD, but I'm not sure on the bios setup.

    All help would be appreciated.

Generally, a major hardware change such as a MOBO wll require a reinstall of the OS.
If your new MOBO uses the same Chipset/Drivers as the old you might get lucky. (Backup important data just in case)
I personally wouldn't hesitate to just reformat & install a fresh OS

If you have specific BIOS question's just post em, the above guide covers most settings.
Your new MOBO if it doesn't come with a manual, look too Manufactures Web for free download of one, it will contain some bios info & options.

    Thanks Asus
The HD transfer is a bit of a test run for another box I have (my brothers) running photoshop cs.
The original disks have gone walking after a party, so if I can transfer without formatting, it would be preferable.

Would you know where to buy a front usb set up?

The new mobo does not have a floppy contoller, and the old case is not set up for front usb. But I suppose the cost of a new case with front usb compared to buying separate bits will probably be about the same. Then I would have a new 400w power supply too.....sorry to ramble.
