    1) ide ata/atapi controllers
intel (r) 82801 ultra ata storage controller 24ca

    2) Toshiba software modem amr

    3) usb adsl wan adapter

    4) intel (r) pro/100ve network connection

    5) usb adsl loader

    6) intel (r) 82801 db/dbm enhanced host controller 24cd

    7) intel (r) 82801 db/dbm usb universal host controller 24c4

    8) intel (r) 82801 db/dbm usb universal host controller 24c2

It seems to me that parts of the internet set up needs a good seeing to,
But what do I do next, I’ve been into device manager to update 6,7 &8
But keep being told drivers are not signed.
Lap top is running windows xp home with sp2
    Internet via tiscali broadband
    IE 7.
Thanks for reading such a long post, please have patience with this old “Thicky”

TBH, if your laptop is working ok at present, then those driver or hardware components listed dont need updating, the majority of them are Intel Chipset drivers and these once you have the correct ones for your motherboard will do the job fine, updates to chipset drivers generally only bring additions for recognising newer motherboards.

For the Toshiba Modem Driver your best to goto Toshiba's support site and type in your model of laptop and see what drivers they have available. http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe....content.jsp?service=UK&ID=Support_Homepage_uk

If you know the model of USB ADSL modem you have then goto the manufacturers site and look for specific driver updates for that too.

but honestly, if your PC is working fine, then I woudl leave alone as anew driver install "may" actually cause issues you didnt already have, mainly its Graphics drivers that really need looking at especially if your a gamer as newer drivers add support and some small speed increases to certain games,
